Met Drone Helmet - White/Black/Red

The heir to a long line of helmets which have made their mark on modern cycling, the Drone is the 100th model to be developed by MET since the company was founded in 1987. The wide body design of the Drone is inspired by the Aerodynamics of jet airliners and brings a saving of 10 watts at 50km/h compared to its predecessor.

Features:

• In-Mould Intelligent Fusion construction. Exclusive technology developed by engineers in our Research and Development laboratory. Inmould construction involves fusing together in the same matrix the two parts of the helmet shell (the interior which is generally black or grey polystyrene and the coloured polycarbonate exterior) during the moulding process. This construction technique provides better shock absorption results than the Twin-Shell at equivalent volume and material density. Thanks to the In-mould Intelligent Fusion process, MET goes even further by using different densities of material depending on the characteristics of each model to improve the weight/volume ratio while optimising the shock absorption capacity.
• HES Construction - Homothetic Embedded Skeleton. In the event of an impact the pressure on the helmet shell is uneven, however, in reality most of the pressure is concentrated within a limited area. HES construction, which involves embedding a homothetic skeleton at the back of the helmet, spreads the pressure built up by compression at the impact point, and thus dissipates the force of impact over the whole shell. This exceptional design and a manufacturing technique, that today only MET has mastered, makes the HES concept a new reference in cycle helmet construction.
• Drone widebody. A spectacular reduction in aerodynamic drag.
• Full wrap. The polycarbonate shell wraps the bottom of the helmet towards the inside of the shell. Wide Body Revolutionary concept of masses & volumes distribution sets a new standard of aerodynamic performances.
• Polycarbonate visor. High quality, scratch resistant, purpose designed TT visor. Maximises the aerodynamics. Fits snug against the helmet. Nose bridge. Anti-fog coating.
• Reflective rear stickers. Being visible is essential to the safety of a cyclist. At night or in tunnels, the reflective sticker placed at the back of the helmet makes the bike visible to drivers approaching from behind.

Retention System:
Safe-T Advanced - Our top of the range retention system provides the best weight and comfort ratio. 25% lighter than the Safe-T Smart, the Safe-T Advanced is welded which helps to reduce the weight. The contact points have increased comfort with a larger cradle surface area which is also designed to aid ventilation at the back of the head. The micro adjust dial offers very precise movements with 2mm per click for horizontal adjustment. The vertical adjustment offers 4 steps for the perfect fit. As standard on all of our helmets, the retention features a full 360 degrees retention ring which fits around the head bringing unparalleled comfort with a very secure fit.

Straps/Divider:
Air Lite straps. The straps on the Drone widebody are made from a revolutionary technique of weaving polyester fibres which aids sweat evaporation and provides greater tensile strength with less weight. The Drone’s strap anchor points are embedded in the polystyrene which means the straps’ tensile stress is more evenly spread. The technical choice to embed the strap anchoring points in the mass creates extra difficulties from a construction perspective, but it improves the aerodynamics of the helmet by leaving the exterior of the shell free from anything which might perturb air flow. The straps and chin buckle are easy to adjust and the new cam divider holds the straps securely in place.

Padding:
Coolmax™ anti-allergenic interior pads. The high-tech material assures rapid evaporation of absorbed perspiration for greater comfort.
